I’m a firm believer of balance and teaching. My youngest was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 10-months old, eating disorders, or disorder eating behaviors are very prevalent in the diabetes community. So I teach my boys balance we have health foods for our brain, internal health and its ok to have treats, bagged fries, ice cream once in a while for our mental health. So this is my balance.
Ground Turkey & Ground Deer (we used both) ———————————————-450g
Panko Crumbs ———————————————————————————————- 1-cup
Egg —————————————————————————————————————- 1- egg
Spices (you enjoy) —————————————————————————————– From the heart!!
Panko ———————————————————————————————————— 1-cup
Egg wash ——————————————————————————————————- 3-eggs
Flour & spices ———————————————————————————————— 1-cup / spice from the heart
Mix together your base ingredients, protein, panko, spices, and egg. Mix well. Pre-heat your oven to 375 degree, take a cookie sheet and put parchment paper on it. Now the messy part, take your ground meet and start molding them into little strips or nuggets, what ever your heart desires that day. Place the sheet in the freezer for 15-minutes to cool before breading them. This will help keep the nuggets together.
Once cooled take them out of the freezer. Take each of your nuggets/strips and coat them in the flour mixture, then the egg wash and the panko. Place them back into the baking sheet. Place in the oven and cook for 15-minutes, and flip and cook for another 15-minute. They should be golden brown when fully cooked.
I put mine on a slaw wrap with some sweet chili sauce!!
Enjoy! R.
